Advertisement: The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), Ajmer, has released an advertisement for the Stenographer Competitive Examination, 2011. This examination is being conducted for the Secretariat and Subordinate Offices.

Application Process:
- Applications will only be accepted through the online mode.
- To fill out the application form, designated e-Mitra kiosks or Common Service Centers (C.S.C.) in the state can be used.
- The online application form can be filled out from the Commission's website: http://www.rpsc.gov.in.
- The service charge for filling out the application form is ₹40, which includes ₹35 for filling out the form and ₹5 for the examination fee. If the applicant fills out the online application themselves, they only need to pay a service charge of ₹5.
- If the application is filled out through a kiosk, the applicant will have to get a separate receipt of ₹35.
- Hand-filled application forms will not be accepted by the Commission in any form.

Admit Card:
- Admit cards will be issued by the Commission only through the online mode.
- No admit cards will be sent by post.
- Information about the release of admit cards will be given through newspapers and the website.
- To obtain the admit card, the applicant must keep their application number and the token number for fee submission at the Common Service Center in mind.
- Information regarding the admit card may also be sent to the applicant's email ID and mobile number.

Examination Fee:
- For applicants from the General Category and Creamy Layer category of Backward Class/Special Backward Class: ₹250.
- For applicants from the Non-Creamy Layer category of Backward Class and Special Backward Class of Rajasthan: ₹150.
- For all persons with disabilities and applicants from Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe of Rajasthan: ₹50.
- An additional service charge of ₹40 for the online application is applicable to all.

Details of Vacant Posts:
- 50 posts for direct recruitment for the Secretariat.
- 50 posts for Ministerial Employees of the Secretariat.
- 506 posts for Subordinate Offices.

Educational Qualification:
- Passed Senior Secondary or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- "O" level or higher certificate course conducted by DOEACC under the control of the Department of Electronics, Government of India.
- Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA)/Data Preparation and Computer Software (DPCS) certificate conducted under the National/State Council of Vocational Training Scheme.
- Diploma in Computer Science/Computer Applications from a University established by law in India or from an institution recognized by the government.
- Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering from a Polytechnic institution recognized by the government.
- A person appearing in the final year examination of the above qualifications can also apply, but they will have to provide proof of their qualification by the date of the examination.

Scheme of Examination:
- The competitive examination will be conducted in two phases: Phase I and Phase II.
- Phase I will consist of objective-type question papers.
- Phase II will include a shorthand test and a typing test on a computer.
- Only candidates who secure a minimum of 40% marks in Phase I will be admitted to Phase II.
- The final merit list will be determined based on the marks obtained in Phase I and Phase II.

Syllabus of Examination:
- Phase I:
- General Knowledge, Daily Science, and General Knowledge of Rajasthan (100 marks).
- General Hindi and English (100 marks).
- Phase II:
- English Shorthand (10 minutes, dictation at 100 words per minute) (50 marks).
- Transcription and typing of English shorthand on a computer (60 minutes).
- Hindi Shorthand (10 minutes, dictation at 80 words per minute) (50 marks).
- Transcription and typing of Hindi shorthand on a computer (70 minutes).
- The level of the question papers will be equivalent to the Secondary examination of the Board of Secondary Education.

Month and Date of Examination: The examination is likely to be held in October-December.

Age Limit:
- For Subordinate Offices: Must have attained the age of 18 years and not be more than 35 years as of January 1, 2012.
- For the Secretariat: Must have attained the age of 18 years and not be more than 35 years as of April 1, 2012.
- Age relaxation for various categories:
- 5 years relaxation for men of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Backward Class, and Special Backward Class of Rajasthan.
- 10 years relaxation for women of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Backward Class, and Special Backward Class of Rajasthan.
- 5 years relaxation for female applicants of the General category.
- The maximum age limit will be 50 years in the case of ex-servicemen and reservists.
- The maximum age limit will be 40 years for persons working under the State Government.
- There is no age limit for widows and divorced women.

Note: Age relaxation is "non-cumulative," meaning candidates will get the benefit of only one provision, and the benefits of more than one provision will not be combined.

Reservation:
- Reservation for ex-servicemen, persons with disabilities, and outstanding sportspersons will be horizontal.
- Posts reserved for women will also be adjusted horizontally.
- Reserved posts for Scheduled Caste/Tribe/Backward Class/Special Backward Class will be filled only by permanent residents of the state of Rajasthan.
- Out of the posts reserved for women, 8% posts are reserved for widows and 2% posts are reserved for divorced women.

Other Important Points:
- Fill in all the required information correctly in the online application.
- Action can be taken for using unfair means during the examination.
- It is prohibited to carry mobile phones and other unnecessary items to the examination center.
- Typing on a computer is necessary in the examination, and for this, the candidate will have to bring their own computer, pen, and pencil.
- Disqualifications for appointment: Having more than one living wife or husband, taking dowry, and having more than two children after June 1, 2002.

Pension:
- The Contributory Pension Scheme will be applicable to newly recruited employees from January 1, 2004.

Pay Scale: Running Pay-Band Number 2 (9300-34800), Grade Pay 3200.

Marital Status:
- It is necessary to mention the name of the husband/wife in the application form.
- It is necessary to attach a marriage registration certificate or an affidavit.

No Objection Certificate:
- All applicants should send their application forms directly to the Commission.
- If the applicant is already employed, they must obtain permission from their employer.

Facility of Scribe in Examination:
- Only disabled persons who are unable to write themselves can apply to the Commission to avail the facility of a scribe.
