Backlog Positions: There is one backlog position each for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, which are prior to 10-10-2002.

Procedure for Filling Backlog Positions: If eligible candidates are not available for the reserved backlog positions of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, these positions will be filled through the general process (by candidates other than SC/ST) as per the Department of Personnel circular dated 22-6-2004. The year of advertisement for these positions will be considered the selection year.

Educational Qualification:
- Degree in Mining Engineering from a university established by law in India.
- OR A.M.I.E. (Mining Engineering) Part-A and B from the Institution of Engineers.
- OR Diploma in Mining Engineering from the Indian School of Mines and Applied Geology, Dhanbad.
- OR Equivalent qualification declared by the Government of Rajasthan.
- Candidates appearing for the final year examination of the degree/diploma can also apply, but they must provide proof of qualification before the interview.

Additional Qualification: Practical knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script and knowledge of Rajasthan culture is essential.

Age Limit:
- Must have attained the age of 20 years and must not have attained the age of 42 years as of 1-1-2012.
- Relaxation in Upper Age Limit:
- As per the State Government notification dated 23-09-2008, if a candidate was eligible in terms of age in a year in which no recruitment took place, they will be considered eligible for the subsequent recruitment, provided they have not exceeded the age limit by more than 3 years.
- Clarification: The Assistant Mining Engineer post was advertised in the year 2003, and the age was calculated as of 01-01-2004. Therefore, candidates who are overage as of 01-01-2012 will be given a relaxation of 3 years.
- A relaxation of 5 years will be given to male and female candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Other Backward Classes of Rajasthan.
- In the case of an ex-prisoner who was substantively working on a post under the State Government before being punished and was eligible for appointment under these rules, the maximum age limit will not apply.
- Other ex-prisoners who were not overage before being punished and were eligible for appointment under these rules will get a relaxation equal to the time spent in prison.
- Cadet instructors will be allowed to deduct their service period in the NCC from their actual age, and if the resulting age does not exceed the maximum age limit by more than 3 years, they will be considered within the prescribed age limit.
- A person temporarily appointed to a post in this service will be considered within the age limit if they were within the age limit at the time of initial appointment, even if they have crossed it at the time of final appearance before the commission, and they will be given two chances if they were eligible at the time of initial appointment.
- Released Emergency Commissioned Officers/Short Service Commissioned Officers will be considered eligible at the time of appearance before the Commission after release from the army, even if they have crossed the age limit, provided they were within the age limit for this post when they were commissioned into the army.

Pay Scale: Running Pay Band No. 3 (15600-39100) and Grade Pay No. 15 (5400)

Probation Period: During the probation period, a monthly remuneration will be given at the rate determined by the State Government. The pay scale will be applicable after successful completion of the probation period.
